Chinese Pet Shops

Puppy mills are common all over China, and in neighbouring countries, supplying the appetite for dogs as food, watchdogs and, sometimes, pets. 

Shenzhen open air pet shop: at this place there was a large pot over an open wood fire from which dog stew was served. There was active buying and selling - animals arriving and leaving in wire netting bundles on the back of trucks or balanced on the back of motorbikes.
